Sell Now Now
Privacy notice
Last updated 7 November 2026
This notice explains what personal information The Webjockeys keeps for Sell Now Now, why, who helps us, and your rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). We keep as little as we can, and we never sell it.
Who we are
Sell Now Now is a product of The Webjockeys (VAT number 4570223950), 558 Keeshond Str, Garsfontein, Pretoria. Our information officer is the head of The Webjockeys; you can reach them at info@thewebjockeys.co.za or on WhatsApp at 060 551 1218.
Two kinds of information
- About shop owners and their helpers (our customers). For this information we are the “responsible party”: we decide how it's used, and this notice covers it.
- About shoppers (the people who buy from a shop). Here the shop owner is the responsible party and we are their “operator”: we process it only to run their shop. Each shop's website has its own privacy page. If you're a shopper with a question, ask the shop first; we'll help them answer.
What we keep about shop owners
- Sign-up details: your name, WhatsApp number, email address, shop name, web address, what you sell and where.
- Your shop: products, photos, prices and descriptions, the bank details you choose to show for EFT payments, your helpers' names and numbers, and your settings.
- Messages and photos you send our WhatsApp assistant, and what the AI makes from them.
- Payments: what you paid and when, and your invoices. Paystack keeps your card details; we only get a reference, the card type, its last four digits and expiry date, so we can take monthly payments.
- How much AI credit you use, and when and on which devices you sign in.
- Technical records, like internet addresses, kept for a short time to keep the service secure and stop abuse.
- What you tell us when you ask for help.
What shops keep about shoppers
- Visits to shop websites are counted without tracking cookies. To count unique visitors, the internet address and browser type are turned into a scrambled code that can't be turned back; the address itself isn't stored.
- Orders: what was ordered and anything the shopper types (like their name and how they'd like to receive it). The WhatsApp conversation itself is between the shopper and the shop.
- Market sales: if a shopper asks for a receipt by WhatsApp or email, their number or address, and any company or VAT details they give for an invoice.
Why we use it
- To run the service you signed up for: your website, the assistant, the AI photos, the back office and the till.
- To bill you and keep tax records, as the law requires.
- To keep Sell Now Now secure, prevent fraud, and allow one free trial per WhatsApp number and email address.
- To send you messages about your account, like your trial ending or a payment being due.
- To help you when you ask.
We don't sell personal information, build advertising profiles, or share it for others' marketing. We may tell you about new Sell Now Now features; you can ask us to stop at any time.
Who helps us, and where your information goes
These companies process information for us, only to provide their service, under contracts that require them to protect it:
- Our server, where shops and their photos are kept, is hosted in South Africa.
- WhatsApp (Meta Platforms) carries the messages between you and our assistant.
- AI services from Anthropic (USA), which reads your messages and photos and writes descriptions, and Google (USA), which makes product photos. They get the messages and photos you send the assistant. Their business terms say they don't use it to train their AI.
- Resend (USA) sends our emails and your shop's emails.
- Paystack (Paystack Payments South Africa) handles your payments to us.
Some of these are outside South Africa. We only use services whose countries' laws or contracts protect personal information to a standard like POPIA's, as section 72 of POPIA requires.
How long we keep it
- While your shop exists. A switched-off shop is kept so you can come back; after two years switched off we may delete it, with 30 days' warning by email.
- When you delete your account, your shop, products, photos, sales records and messages are deleted. We keep invoices and payment records for five years, as tax law requires, and a note that your number and email had a free trial.
- Unfinished sign-ups are deleted after two days. Sign-in links last 15 minutes, and email codes 30 minutes.
Cookies
We only use the cookies the service needs to work: to remember your progress while you sign up, and to keep you signed in to your back office and till. No advertising or tracking cookies. A shopper's basket is kept in their own browser.
Keeping it safe
Connections are encrypted, sign-ins use one-time links and protected cookies, card details stay with Paystack, and only the people who need to can see your information. If your information is ever compromised, we'll tell you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
Your rights
You may ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Most of it you can see and change yourself in your back office, and you can delete your account there. For anything else, email info@thewebjockeys.co.za.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us. You may also complain to the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za).
Children
Sell Now Now is for adults. You must be 18 or older to open a shop.
Changes
We'll update this notice when what we do changes, and tell you about important changes by email or WhatsApp. See also our terms.
